Web 2.0 Workshop at Gray-New Gloucester Middle School

We are reporting out of the Gray-New Gloucester Middle School Today. This post and comments will be changing as the day continues. As we work our way through the agenda, comments will be added. Whether you are at Gray or not, feel free to add your 2¢. In fact, we would love to see comments from other places in Maine and beyond.

Morning session is done at GNGMS. We had an unexpected video Skype experience, communicating with Keith Kelley and class at MSAD#48.

Pleasantly diverse group of 40 educators. It was a delight working with you! :) This afternoon, Alison Skoczenski, the District librarian is presenting the local library database, MARVEL - Maine's Virtual Library, and Del.icio.us.

  32. Need time to play with these sites
and find out how to get them in classroom

Also, need to make sure sites offer VALUE, not just tecno-wizardty!!

  33. Thanks for the help - I wish we had more PD days like this.

  34. Thank you for your presentation. I know I have soooo much to learn about computers. I know who to ask for help here at school. I'm still using just the basics.

  35. Still not sure about the difference between a blog and a Wiki? Excited to see some of the new web pages especially in math related areas! I hope that as an outcome of the day that all of the teachers will be given the same access to technology to use in our classrooms. Thanks again and I look forward to learning more in the future! TF

  36. Anyone have the URL for the slanket website?

  37. I am very excited to continue on with incorporating technology into my classroom. I have not issues about using technology, it is just finding the time, with all of the required items that educators are expected to do, to set up the technology sites for the students to use.

I hope that in the near future, my day expands beyond 24 hours in order for me to do all of the exciting things that I want to do with the students.

  38. This was great! I am excited to learn more about many of these terrific resources for teachers. Now, if I can only find the time, and the school will allow us to have access to these sites! Great job, Jim. Come back anytime!

  39. It is very hard to engage the technologically literate adults in a group of adults that is mostly technologically naive. There may be benefits to offering dual sections for different levels. Thanks for making the agenda available for us to use over time.

  40. Thanks, it was great.

  41. Thank you for coming. I would like to have had a lot more discussion among teachers about why technology is important and how we should approach it - I don't think most educators are prepared for the shift in thinking about education that is necessary when using technology appropriately in the classroom. People will not use this stuff well if that discussion does not happen, first.

  42. Awesome!Thanks.
    Concerns: access and time.
